Mobile Phone Augmented Reality

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

The following YouTube video demonstrates an augmented reality project I did about a year ago, completed in Flash using the Papervision3D framework and the FLAR toolkit.

Phone models were first modeled in Blender3D and then textured with a UV image map.

Destination Gallery (incomplete)

A work in progress, this demo is simply to show some cool layout animations using jQuery. It really isn’t much at the moment — the only working action item is the “Info” button in the bottom/left corner.

My future plan is to navigate through several “Paralaxed” destinations (demoed in the previous post) and allow the user to view additional information about the destination, including a Wikipedia synopsis, weather and YouTube videos.

Javascript/PNG Paralax

A paralax effect using transparent .png files and a subtle mix of Javascript / jQuery.

Flash/Papervision 3D iPhone 4

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

I’m actually more of an Android fan, but I do think the iPhone is a worthy competitor. With that said, it was pretty easy to find enough images to texturize my Collada model (created in Blender) to bring you this demo.

This is the image I put together before doing a UV map on the model:

Flash Coverflow Gallery

I’m hoping to begin working on a jukebox AIR app soon… at least until iTunes uses the same type of “coverflow” behavior as the iPhone’s music app (flipping album art around to show album contents).

Either way, I was pretty proud of what I was able to do using Flash 10′s built-in 3D support (rotationX/Y/X).
